Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we are asked most often. If yours is not here, just get in touch.
Who can make a referral?
Anyone. We accept referrals from professionals such as care coordinators, social workers and housing officers, from family and friends, and from people referring themselves. The person must agree to the referral. Make a referral.
Who is your accommodation for?
Adults living with mental health challenges who need support to live more independently, and refugees and people seeking asylum who need stable accommodation. We will always talk through whether we are the right fit.
Where are your homes?
Our homes are in Nottingham and the surrounding area. We will tell you about available locations when we discuss a referral.
Will I have my own room?
Yes. Every tenant has their own bedroom. Some homes have shared kitchens, bathrooms and living areas.
How is the rent paid?
In most cases, rent and eligible service charges are covered by Housing Benefit, and we help tenants make the claim. We will explain exactly what you will need to pay, if anything, before you move in.
How long can I stay?
Supported housing is a stepping stone. You can stay while you need the support, and we agree goals with you and review them regularly. When you are ready, we help you move to a home of your own.
What does a support worker do?
Your support worker meets you regularly and helps with whatever is getting in the way of a settled life: benefits and bills, appointments, cooking and budgeting, learning and work, and planning your next home.
Can I have visitors?
Yes. Visitors are welcome within the house rules, which are there to keep everyone in the home safe and comfortable.
Do you provide emergency accommodation?
No. We are not an emergency service. If you are homeless tonight, contact your local council’s housing team, or call Shelter’s free helpline on 0808 800 4444. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
I am a landlord. Can I work with you?
Yes, we would like to hear from you. See our information for landlords.
How do I make a complaint?
Talk to your support worker or any member of the team, or follow our feedback and complaints process. Making a complaint will never affect your tenancy or your support.
